Union Public Service Commission, UPSC, A competitive examination for recruitment to the posts mentioned in para 2 below will be held by the Union Public Service Commission commencing from the 4h December, 2010 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Mines in the Gazette of India dated the 19th June, 2010. Interested candidates may apply for the post:
(i) Geologist (Junior) Group A :
No of Post : 277 posts,
Essential Qualification & Experience : (a) Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or (b) Diploma of Associateship in Applied Geology of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad; or (c) Master’s degree in Mineral Exploration from a recognised University (for posts in the Geological Survery of India only);
Age Limit : A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st January, 2010, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1978 and not later than 1st January. 1989. (b) The upper age limit will be relaxable upto a maximum of 7 years in the case of Government servants, if they are employed in the Department mentioned in Column I below and apply for the corresponding post mentioned in column II.
(ii) Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B), Group A :

Essential Qualification & Experience : Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognised University (for posts in the Central Ground Water Board only).
Age Limit : A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st January, 2010, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1978 and not later than 1st January. 1989. (b) The upper age limit will be relaxable upto a maximum of 7 years in the case of Government servants, if they are employed in the Department mentioned in Column I below and apply for the corresponding post mentioned in column II.
(iii) Assistant Hydrogeologists, Group B :
No of Post : 12 posts,
Essential Qualification & Experience : Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognised University (for posts in the Central Ground Water Board only).
Age Limit : A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st January, 2010, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1978 and not later than 1st January. 1989. (b) Candidates are advised to read carefully the “Instructions for filling up the Offline Application Form” given in Appendix-II (A) and Instructions for Online Applications given in Appendix II (B) of this notice. (c) Candidates who wish to apply Offline must apply in the Common Application form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.
All offline applications must reach the “Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi – 110069″ either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 19th July 2010. However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in para 6 of this Notice the last date for receipt of application by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 26th July 2010.
Fees : Application form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty only).
Last Date of Application Submission : 19th July 2010 candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities last date for receipt of application by 26th July 2010.
